5 Things To Consider To Avoid Being Restricted From Facebook Ads
If your personal ad account got shut down by Facebook without any reason or whatsoever, you are probably one of the many advertisers on the platform that are frustrated and feel helpless. If you have a new and fresh ad account or business manager or you are one of the lucky few advertisers that hasn’t experienced being permanently restricted, these 5 things that I will talk about will help you prevent getting banned.
1) If your ad gets rejected once, it has a great chance that it will be rejected again.
Avoid resubmitting an ad that’s been rejected. Chances are, that ad will be rejected again unless you have some keywords in your ad copy that you didn’t realize is what’s causing the rejection. There is also a term called “instant rejection” where Facebook’s algorithm detected something wrong with your ad before it was even reviewed by a real person. Be careful when resubmitting an ad and make sure that your ad copy, headline, image, and landing page are good to go before you hit that “publish” button again.
2) Carefully review your ad creative before submitting it for review.
I had an experience where I submitted an ad creative that has a somewhat upload button from a screenshot of an iPhone, you know when you’re texting someone and you have an option to send an image, that’s the one I’m talking about. Sometimes, small things like that could really hurt the quality of your account. Be sure your ad creative doesn’t include any image that might be interpreted by your audience as “clickable”.
3) If you are traveling abroad, and you access your ad account, be sure your 2-factor authentication is turned on and you still have access to your phone number just in case Facebook sends you a code to confirm your identity.
Facebook is very serious when it comes to account security and when you are let’s say based in Los Angeles but then you went to Bali, Indonesia for vacation and you try to access your ad account from there, be sure that you are preferred to confirm your identity. I had an experience where I went to Milan, Italy for vacation and while I was there, I was also working remotely (our company is based in Newport Beach, California), so when I tried to log in to my Facebook, they made me confirm that I was really the one who tried to log in from Milan, Italy.
4) Be sure your ad account or business manager is not tied to anyone.
This happened to my business manager when someone got their business manager restricted permanently and since their business manager is tied to mine, Facebook also disabled my business manager. Unless you have someone that is doing the ads for you, you want to limit the number of people who are tied to your account.
5) Confirm that your business is legitimate
The best way to avoid being restricted from Facebook ads is to upload the necessary documents to Facebook that your business is registered and is established. By doing this, you are letting Facebook know that you are just not a random person who created a Facebook account and just start advertising on their platform right away. Note that this only applies if you have a business manager’s account and doesn’t apply to a personal ad account.
There you have it! Facebook is a great place to advertise your business and if you follow their guidelines, you should be just fine. Be sure to review their ad policy and guidelines and educate yourself on what makes an ad gets rejected and how to avoid it.
